The topic of the past few messages has been teaching. To become the God glorifying Christians that God calls us to be, we need to renew our minds in the Word. Two weeks ago, Wanda taught us the value of bringing up our children in the word of God. When we teach the children and youth what the correct path is, we build up our church for many years to come. In Bible study, we’ve studied the ethics of being a Christian, and what this means as we relate to others. We’ve learned that Christ calls us to love the Lord God with all our hearts and minds and souls and strengths, but we also are to love our neighbors as ourselves. In a Church setting, this call to consider our neighbors before ourselves leads to a certain framework of behavior. In Bible study, we laid out some rules which foster an environment where we care about not only our own growth, but the growth of everyone around us. As a member of one Body, we are constantly looking to build up something that’s greater than just ourselves. (more…)

“The Symphony of God”
Being a musician all my life, the picture of the symphony orchestra is a very good comparison to how we walk in life. Hopefully we will understand this better as we go. But first let’s look at some truth.
Who taught you to lie?
Was it your parents, brother, sister, your aunt or uncle, maybe it was a teacher?
Although it is TRUE that we learn to construct better lies from anyone on the previous list, it is NOT TRUE that we learn to lie. But we do learn to construct better or more believable lies as we walk in our life. I will explain. First let’s define a lie: a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.
With this in mind, let’s look at this scene, “Did you take a cookie”? The child immediately says no: Now we sometimes tend to find this amusing, but we must look closely at the effect of sin that is at work here. (The child is intentionally attempting to deceive someone whom she knows loves her. Why? You know you didn’t teach your child to do that. (more…)
La Vanidad
2012
